The WV Country Music Hall of Fame announces that Joseph Lee Hooker will be one of the Inductees into the Hall of Fame on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Born in Clarksburg, WV, as Robert Joseph Martin, he was adopted at the age of three and his name was changed to what it is to this day, Joseph Lee Hooker. He says that even he grew up rough, even spent time at the Boys Industrial School, he eventually joined the army where he boxed and sang with the Battalion Band.
After the Army, Joe was invited to join the Four Lads as an extra. He traveled the country as a long haul trucker and sang everywhere he got the opportunity including Mickey Gilleys, Mo and Joe’s and many more across the country for over 35 years.
For eight years Joe lived in the Sandusky, Ohio Veterans Home doing shows for the Veterans, their families and special events. He remembers the time that Lee Greenwood came to the Veterans Home and Joe was the opening act. Another memorable time in Joe’s career is when he performed for over 850 people at the Erie County Fair. He also performed at the Amvets, VFW, and many Veterans and Nursing Homes around Ohio.
Now Joe Lee Hooker is an 80 year old Veteran and still performing strong and will continue as long as he is able.
